Description

I'm Yuki, governmental licensed local English speaking guide live in Shonan area, Kanagawa. I moved to here since I was attracted by its nature, history and culture. And once I knew the small Oiso town nearby my home, I’ve totally fell in love. The sun is always shining brightly, the pleasant sea breeze sways greenery and time passes slowly. Hundreds years of history is still alive. Oiso town is compactly packed with various attractions; including perfect short hike experience to Mt. Koma starting from historical shrine, splended 360° view from Shonan-Daira observatory with photogenic spots, the largest number of 7C tomb clusters in Japan, nostalgic sites of Oiso post town along old Tokaido highway in Edo Period, post villas and gardens owned by celebrities of the Meiji era, small port and fishing industry, first beach born in Japan, unique family-run restaurants, cafes and shops. Escaping from the crowds, you can take your time, immerse yourself thoroughly and feel local people's heartfulness. Then, you’ll experience the real life of Japanese people who live in harmony with nature. I cannot wait to guide you around Oiso-town! *We meet at JR Oiso station where is the best access for tourists who moves from Tokyo to the West such as Odawara, Hakone, even Osaka and Kyoto. (or the opposit route) *We visit the small Oiso port. You can feel fresh ocean breeze and see the firstly established beach in Japan. If you are lucky enough, you'll get chance to have freshly caught raw whitebait in the morning. *We go through nostalgic old Tokaido highway with magnificent pine tree lines since Edo Period and find several historic sites with legend stories. *You encounter Takaku Shinto Shrine with 1,300 years of history. We follow the shinto ritual to pray for diety. You can touch springing divine water as well. *We aim for the top of Mt. Koma where Koraiji Temple was located. You can choose from 2 trails; Otokozaka (steep but short) or Onnazaka (gentle but long). This short hiking is perfect for the tourists who want to try light wild nature experience in Japan. We farther continue along the ridge and aim for Shonan-Daira observatory. *We face 360° panoramic splendid view at Shonan-Daira observatory. It's one of the famous 100 view spots of Mt. Fuji. Sagami bay and Mt. Oyama are also in your front! There are photogenic tower, art and object as well. If you are hungry, you can have casual lunch at observatory restaurants. (Lunch fee is not included to the tour fee.) *Time to go back to the foot town. You can find 7C tomb clusters and local Oiso Town scape on your way. *To deepen the history and culture of Oiso, we visit Meiji Memorial Garden and get inside of 2 Japanese traditional style of villas stayed by famous politicians in Meiji Era. Also we visit Shigitatsu-an, 300 years Haiku Dojo with thatched roof. *If you like, we can drop by recommended cafes or shops. We end our tour at JR Oiso station.
